History of Botanical Garden
The Seoul Grand Park Botanical Garden transferred the plants of Changgyeongwon Botanical Garden, the Korea’s first public botanical garden, and has been succeeding the genealogy of botanical gardens in Korea.

Changgyeongwon Botanical Garden, the first public botanical garden in South Korea, was established in 1909 during the period of Japanese colonial rule as part of an effort to reform the royal palace with the purpose of spreading knowledge to people and providing them with a source of hobby. In the 1960s, development of domestic botanical gardens began and the government led the establishment of Namsan Botanical Garden in 1968.

The Seoul Grand Park Botanical Garden transferred in 1986 the plants of Changgyeongwon Botanical Garden, the first public botanical garden in South Korea.

The Seoul Grand Park Botanical Garden transferred the plants of Namsan Botanical Garden which was closed down in 2006 and has been succeeding the genealogy of botanical gardens in Korea.
