The 'Western Lowland Gorilla', which was selected as the animal of September, is a world-class rare animal that is listed as a CITES I class and a critically endangered species on the IUCN Redlist.
There is a pair of western lowland gorillas at Seoul Zoo, and they are the only animals housed in Seoul Zoo.
In commemoration of ‘World Gorilla Day’ on September 24, we hope that citizens and visitors will pay attention to the protection of endangered gorillas, hence selected as the proud animal of September.
