Purpose

Seoul Zoo purposes to provide the public with space and opportunities for recreation, refreshment and health improvement as well as education on wildlife through conservation and exhibition of animals and plants.

History

  • 1978.10.30 Broke ground for Seoul Zoo.
    1984.05.01 Opened Zoological Garden.
    1985.05.01 Opened Botanical Garden.
    1985.07.05 Opened Bokdori Amusement Park.
    1986.08.25 Opened National Museum of Contemporary Art.
    1988.05.11 Opened Seoul Land.
    1991.07.12 Sky lift started operations.
    1992.12.01 Opened Pavilion of Zoological and Botanical Specimens.
    1994.03.21 Changed name of Nature Park to Neighborhood Park.
    1994.07.09 Opened Nature Immersion Areas.
    2000.10.14 Opened IT World of Korea Information & Culture Center.
